Runaway (1984) - hackneyed and uncompelling crap... I LOVED Chrichton's Looker from 3 years before so I'm really dumbfounded with this one. Not a fan of Tom Selleck so maybe that's part of it? I doubt it, the whole thing didn't mesh at all. Gene Sim…
Blutiger Freitag AKA Bloody Friday (1972) - bleak and cynical German crime film about a bank heist that goes horribly wrong and results in a violent bloodbath. Very much in the vein of the 70s italian Poliziotteschi films only considerably harsher o…
I recently viewed DEALING: OR THE BERKELEY-TO-BOSTON FORTY-BRICK LOST-BAG BLUES (1972) which is available at the Warner Brothers archives on DVD. It was written by Michael Chrichton (which is really unusual since this isn't the least bit sci-fi) and…
I am about a year behind you on this one, but I just saw Straight time, I had heard of it for years & somehow it slipped by me. Until the other night. This film is a tour de force by Hoffman. Eddie Bunker who wrote the script said he wrote it for cr…
Glad to be wrong on this one, for some reason I had thought the DVD was OOP. Never actually bothered to check obvious places like amazon for it though. Wonder why it's not in the netflix library...

Ok, no prob. A bigger influence on the movie was Lynch's Wild at Heart more than anything. But any crime movie especially indie crime move these days gets referenced to Tarantino.. as if he owns the genre - although he did re-vitalise it. Glad you liked the trailer, including all the lesbian stuff ;-)
Cheers for the comment, I'm not a huge fam myself, especially his last few movies :-) although I cannot deny I like his first two dogs and pulp are classics...mainly for the excellent performances from the actors!

Thanks!
For the RSS boxes, head over to http://www.yourminis.com/ and find their RSS widgets. You might have to register, but its free...You build it there and then copy/paste the code for here. But I couldn't put it in the widget box so I used the personal box. You can get the RSS feeds for your queue and anything else by clicking RSS down at the bottom of the Netflix website which will open a page with all your personal feeds.
Once they are up and running, the widgets will update automatically as soon as your NF movies are either re-organized in the queue, returned in to the distribution center, and/or shipped out.
I just wanted to welcome you to the 70's Cinema Group. From the looks of your List of Fav's, you're gonna fit right in. Hope to read your thoughts on all those great movies.
