I just thought of another movie you may like or at least may want to try. It's actually a romantic comedy drama. I just saw it no too long ago and it has become one of my top three romantic movies. Bear in mind, I am really, really picky when it comes to romances. It's called Dedication with Billy Crudup and Mandy Moore. I love that movie. Has plenty of profanities, but if you could get pass that.. the story is really beautiful and touching, and really funy at parts.
Quantum of Solace.... NF has that already? I have not watched any of the newer James Bond films. I should. I love Pierce Brosnan, so I watched all his James Bonds.
I watched a fantastic movie called Everything Is Illuminated. It is a poignant movie, but very, very funny at parts. Do you like Elijah Wood? If you do, you may want to check out this movie. The backdrop is about survivors of the holocaust, but it is a funny and quirky road trip movie for the most part. The cultural and language barriers lend to some hillarious moments.
hey! sorry i suck with responding! i haven't really had time lately to go to the movies but i did see religious a couple weeks back; it was brilliant! i want to see it again. and actually last night i went to see the lost boys on screen, it was awesome. they served fried rice, noodles and bloody marys in honor of it!
I am a fan of both Natalie and Scarlett. I think they did fine with what they're given, but I feel the movie is just a string of melodramatic events... I can't connect with the characters.. they two-dimensional. Kristin Scott Thomas' character is the most real in my opinion. She is a good actress. Here is what I wrote:
I watched this movie because of Scarlett and Natalie. They both gave great performances, however I have troubles with the screenwriting. I realize it is challenging to put together a believable fiction based on real historical figures. The writer has to inject his/her own views of the characters based on limited known facts. The Other Boleyn Girl, to me, feels like a string of melodramatic events without any opportunity to connect with any of the characters. The cinematography is good, full of powerful shots. The one character that is memorable to me is Lady Elizabeth Boleyn played by Kristin Scott Thomas.
I am rather disappointed with The Illusionist. I just watched The Prestige and really like it. I thought it would surpass The Prestige... I had high expectation because I am a fan of Ed Norton. I think Norton did okay, but his character feels so shallow. Jessica Biel's character is hopelessly unreal and shallow. I am not a fan of hers - or at least she has not proven to me that she is a versatile actress capable of taking on deep and complicated characters. All I think when her name comes up is Seventh Heaven, the tv sitcom. The story of The Illusionist is good, and it keeps me guessing to the end. But once I found out what it was all about, it was anticlimatic. Have you seen The Prestige? Both Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are fantastic there.
Watched The Other Boleyn Girl earlier in the week. Towards the weekend I saw Black Book, Requiem For A Dream, Rabbit-Proof Fence, Stage Beauty and The Illusionist. The Other Boleyn is not as good as I anticipated it to be.
well looks like most of our desires for the playoffs have fallen through! lol only the rays still stand (and the phillies are definitely in). bummer. lol
oh well. i'm pulling for both the rays and the sox. i like both of them over the NL this year (i don't like the phillies or the dodgers). not sure who i'll root for in the ALCS now though. lol
LOL me too! rays vs cubs (or Red Sox vs Cubs)... both would be cool. Rays because it's new vs. old (young team vs. history and a 100 yr curse). Red Sox because it'd be broken curse vs. 100+ yr curse. either way i'd be stoked!! as for movies i love all sorts of varieties. the key for movies for me is WRITING. i like witty comedies, powerful dramas, moving storylines, creative storytelling, etc. some of my fav's that fit that bill are: Rudy, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, The Power of One, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Tommy Boy, The Family Man, Matrix, etc.
What about you?
Kill Bill, The Dark Knight, The Forbidden Kingdom, The Legend of Drunken Master, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Star Wars, Harry Potter
