Another actor whose prodigious list of superb performances makes it tough to choose him for only one. Montgomery Clift as Freud In the many years since this film was released the good doctor's reputation has greatly diminished, and with some jus…

Judgment at Nuremberg - Very sincere, yes. But pompous, self-congratulatory, and overblown. Compared to the much shorter television version -- likewise written by Abby Mann and likewise with Maximilian Schell, but with Paul Lukas in Lancaster's rol…

I was hoping with this new decade things might change for the better, but so far it's looking to be just as bad as the previous one. I read it the same way at first.

I have a vague recollection of that story. Did you tell it to the Movie Picture Game crowd? I can't find the post, either. I was thinking it is maybe because Mere deletes those threads when they get too long and picture-stuffed. You could tell it a…

Scarlet Street - What a fucking downer! True Germanic despair. Not even Wozzeck brings me down like this one. I much prefer The Woman in the Window.

You see, Knalds? The women are showing you up.

I likewise sympathize. However, the point of the thread is to recommend films to others. Pick your five for the rest of us, you egoistic, self-pitying bastard.

Are you a Netflix employee?
a) No.
What is your (apx) "Reviewer Rank" Number?
I wobbled around 55 to 65 before my reviews began to disappear. Out of over 500 reviews a mere handful are left. They've replaced my name with some alpha-numeric mumbo-jumbo, and my rank has sunk down a few hundred places.
A Small Set Of My Favorite Movies
"The Night of the Hunter", "The Scarlet Empress", "The Battle of Algiers", "Orphee", "Shakespeare in Love", "The Man in the White Suit", "Harakiri", "The Hill", "Dr. Strangelove", "Les Enfants du Paradis", "Olympia", "D.O.A.", "Ikiru", "Chinatown", "His Girl Friday", "The Devil and Daniel Webster", "The Asphalt Jungle," "The Innocents", "Twelve Angry Men", "M", "The Maltese Falcon", "5 Fingers", "Smiles of a Summer Night", "The Wages of Fear", "Jezebel", "Viva Zapata". If you want a list of the all-time great films, maybe not all of these would make it. But I usually watch any of them whenever I get the chance.
What I Snack on in Movie Theaters
Whatever I can stuff into my mouth. No cracks, people.
About Me:
Bald, fat, broke, relentlessly profane, blubberingly sentimental, crawling into old age with no dough, no prospects, and an obnoxious personality. Looking for my dream girl.

Hehheh. I'll try to take you at face value, sweets. You know it's hard for an English major.

Didn't bees say he was passive-aggressive? What more evidence do we need?

Izzat some sly it-takes-one-to-know-one paradoxically passive-aggressive commentary, you crafty bastard?

Believe me, I am not unaware of the glass-house-stone-throwing irony. But I think I have a case, in this case.
