About Me:
I watch wa-a-a-y too much TV! That photo that I am using as an avatar at the moment is 51 years old. I thought it would be a hoot to use it.... I am eligible to retire now, but can't afford it 'cause I buy too many dvds!

Looks like we got some common taste in movies (though I may be a bit more wacked then you so hopefully I won't offend too much. LOL)
Harold & Maude is one of my all time favorites--seems like it's one of those that people either "get" & love or don't get and hate.
Dead Like Me was phenomenal--It's the kind of thing that's up my alley anyway--death-themed, absurd humor, magical-realism/fantastical, etc...but I thought the whole cast was just stellar & it managed to make me both laugh and cry on a regular basis. I was at a bit of a loss when it ended.
Nice to meet a fellow Yes, Minister fan too! It seems to get overshadowed by the more slapstick, ridiculous humor a la Monty Python, Faulty Towers, Red Dwarf---all of which I love---but the thing I really love best about British humor is the blending of absurdity with droll humor and high intelligence---and Yes, Minister was just perfect for me!
Hope to share more movie & TV series chat with you! :)
I liked The Thin Blue Line but after seeing Ben Elton's other works first it's a tad of a let down for many. I was amazed he was still going after The Young Ones and Blackadder series. I like your taste, I was only able to watch probably three episodes of Butterflies once from a bootleg a friend found.
BBC America is a letdown for me, they hardly show anything new from the BBC comedy world. I would love it if they showed Murder Most Horrid. Thanks to someone on youtube I was finally able to see it.
Hello fellow BBC fan, I was dropping by to ask if you ever saw the show Chef!
No one I know has seen it, I was thinking maybe you have.

I am watching The Shooting Party and it is interesting. Kind of like Gosford Park Meets Jane Austen??!

I just watched The Children's Hour andit was good. My review should be up tomorrow or the next day. It is so much about the effects of gossip on a small town. Thanks for the recommendation.

I know exactly the photos you're talkin about! I did his family trees, and ran across lots of those old gems from the 20's. We were just lucky that family saved them for the generations to come. Hope you come back to play some more Retro-TV, when you get a chance.
Steffanie, I've been s-o-o-o busy trying to get the 90's together (before we run outta 80's) that I almost missed your message. Sorry. Hubby and I have family in Indy! Yes, I loved the Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, and think Blair Brown was great.
I just read you avatar note, and thought you'd get a kick outta this one of hubby about 68 years ago.
TO THE MANOR BORN: Silver Anniversary Special DEAR LADIES ~ Hinge and Bracket
A TOWN LIKE ALICE
If you can ever find this film, grab it. Released only on VHS, it is now in the public domain and rarely shown in the U.S. I found a "home made" dvd on ebay. "Set against the brutal chaos of Wold War 2, a love story begins that will take two lovers through a living nightmare of captivity, across three continents and two decades. From the steamy jungles of Malaya to the dusty and desolate outback of Australia. Based on Nevil Shute's international bestselling novel, A TOWN LIKE ALICE follow the lives of Jean Paget and Joe Harmon. Meeting in Malaya--she an attractive young English captive and he a cheerful Australian POW tortured for a simple act of kindness. Separated first by their captors then by the distance of passing years, the two are finally reunited in the rugged outback of Australia-to face a challenge every bit as demanding as their wartime trails. Winner of numerous international awards, A TOWN LIKE ALICE stars Helen Morse and Bryan Brown." Also stars Gordon Jackson, "Mr Hudson" in "UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS".
