Having a teen daughter who had read the books was helpful while watching the movie. Several questions were answered only because she knew from reading the novel. I don't think that makes for a great movie... Though the pacing is slow, the vampires are unique enough to keep your interest even though it seems like nothing is happening. The story is supposed to be deep; you get some feeling of the intense love between the main characters, but my daughter says it comes across better in the book. Enjoyable despite its flaws. Worth your time.

The plot sounded mildly interesting, but it turned out to be monumentally dull instead. The family was ready for it to be over about half way through. The "Shelmikedmu tribe" was not credible in any way and to believe that other scholars would buy into this load of dung is to insult intelligence in a major way. Although there were no laughs, a couple cute scenes and a half-naked Elfman saved this from being a complete waste of time.

A fair supernatural horror story with its impact lessened by the disappointing ending. A little suspense is built up but no real scares and no gore. Very tame by today's standards. Not nearly as good as I was hoping.

Cute family movie involving a superbly trained dog. None too thought provoking, but pretty entertaining just the same. Decent performances by all, including the dog. Simple story of love between man (or boy in this case) and his best friend. Worth your time.

Faithful remake of the 70's classic. Having seen the original, some of the suspense was gone. Still, the movie is paced well with good acting. This is not a gore-fest, though one bloody scene stands out and is pretty cool. The Biblical interpretations and my belief in Christianity lend much to making this a horror film worth watching.
