001- Titan A.E.

In 3028, years after planet Earth is destroyed, a young man, Cale (voiced by Matt Damon), discovers that a mark on his hand is a map to the lost space station Titan, making him the last hope for the human race. He sets off for the adventure of his life with Korso (Bill Pullman), the beautiful Akima (Drew Barrymore) -- and plenty of pressure to save humanity. Directors Don Bluth and Gary Goldman's sci-fi epic boasts beautifully realized animation.

002- Holes

Falsely accused of stealing sneakers, nerdy teenager Stanley Yelnats (Shia LaBeouf) is sent to a Texas detention camp, where he and the other delinquents are forced by the sadistic warden (Sigourney Weaver) to dig holes as a character-building exercise. Every day, each boy must dig a hole 5 feet deep and wide in the long-dry rock that was once the bottom of Green Lake. But what's the real reason for all the digging? Based on Louis Sachar's novel.

003- The Parent Trap / The Parent Trap II

Hayley Mills takes on four starring roles in this double feature about mistaken identity. In The Parent Trap, a teenage Mills plays identical twins separated at birth trying to reunite their parents. She reprises the roles in The Parent Trap II. Released 25 years later, the sequel follows one sister's attempt to help her divorced sibling find love by impersonating her on a date with an attractive widower (Tom Skerritt).

004- 1000 Places to See Before You Die: Collection 1: Disc 1

This disc includes Brazil, Alaska and France.

005- Get Smart: Season 1: Disc 2

This disc includes the following episodes: "Satan Place," "Our Man in Leotards," "Too Many Chiefs," "My Nephew the Spy," "Aboard the Orient Express," "Weekend Vampire," "Survival of the Fattest" and "Double Agent."

006- Firefly: Disc 1

This disc includes the following episodes: "Serenity" (with commentary), "The Train Job" (with commentary), and "Bushwhacked".

007- The Big One

Another subversive journey from documentarian / provocateur Michael Moore poses this question: At a time when corporations are posting record profits, why are so many Americans still in danger of losing their jobs? Searching America's heartland, armed only with a camera, tons of sarcasm and a heartfelt sympathy for the American worker, Moore embarks on a one-man campaign to persuade Fortune 500 companies to reconsider their downsizing decisions.

008- Treasure Island

Robert Louis Stevenson's ageless adventure yarn of buccaneers and buried gold is brought to life in this sumptuous Disney production. Authentic locales and musket-roaring action set the stage as young Jim Hawkins (Bobby Driscoll) searches for "pieces of eight" along with the wily, one-legged pirate of all pirates, Long John Silver (a great Robert Newton). A swashbuckling classic fit for all ages.

009- Withnail and I

Two unemployed actors -- Withnail (Richard E. Grant) and Marwood (Paul McGann) -- take a trip to the British countryside in 1969. But instead of rejuvenation, they experience a lack of food, an abundance of rain and a plethora of alcohol. Their host, Withnail's gay Uncle Monty (Richard Griffiths), displays a love for life and a lust for Marwood. This classic art-house comedy won an Evening Standard British Film Award.

010- Free Willy

Busted for painting graffiti all over Willy the whale's holding tank at a theme park, abandoned malcontent Jesse (Jason James Richter) is promptly sentenced to clean up his handiwork. While working off his punishment, the rebellious Jesse unexpectedly bonds with the equally unruly orca. Meanwhile, the park's conniving owner (Michael Ironside) decides Willy is worth more dead than alive. Can Jesse rescue his captive cohort before it's too late?

Ah. I didn't know it was "stickied" on the IW Forum page. That's good. I wonder how many newbies even make it off the main board before starting a new topic. I'd guess: none.

Turnip, if they are gonna ignore this big notice: This litle thread on the main page won't really help.

This isn't working since it keeps falling off the "last 10 forums" section. I think there's a lot of information to absorb on the main page. If there was a big notice at the top of the main page it would be static when the page is first loaded and…

Name change, some visual changes...

Maybe it's the hour, and maybe i'm being ridiculous, but this community is YOUR community - it's not mine and it's not from Netflix, and I guess i was thinking that it might be confusing to some people when it looked so much like the community page from which it is now (temporarily?) linked, when it had the same logo treatment as the Netflix Community (and color scheme), and that it presented itself as "THE" community, when in fact it is just one of any number that could exist.

So, in a modest… Continue

Blog Experiment

Do we need a "community" here, and a blog elsewhere? Ideally perhaps both would be "within" the netflix pages, but even if they are not, couldn't they both be merged somehow?

I'm going to copy a couple of my 'classic' blog posting from the Community Blog and add them here, just to see how all this works and whether i think it is a good or better location for blog stuff.

Your suggestions and feedback are, of course, valued.

Moving the Needle

When I add something to the site — like the Latest Reviews block or the Members Top 10 Lists, I am looking to see how many of our subscribers use it, and come back to use it again. For whom does this feature add value? My goal is to add lots of value for as many people as i can. A new feature doesn’t have to appeal to everyone, of course. We have a lot of subscribers, after all, and you all have a very wide range of needs and preferences. Some things we do might be useful to everyone (s… Continue

The Product Tax

Your feature ideas are great, and your obvious passion is a tribute, I think, to what we've done so far. So I'm going to have another one of those "out on a limb" conversations here about product design. (It's possibly too much for a blog like this, but...) there was something in a few of your postings that comes up often, and it includes the expression that the solution to a problem is "obvious." This has triggered something in me. A number of new community features will roll out next week and… Continue

Ahoy!

As the creator of this network -- and thanks, by the way! -- do you have any control over the widgets that appear in the right-hand margin? Specifically, I am wondering about the rotating display of recently uploaded photographs. It seems to be dominated by girlie pix that have only a tenuous connection to cinema, at best. I'm not offended but people get the wrong idea about my browsing habits if they happen to glance over my shoulder. Is there some way to make that widget optional?

Sincerely,

[:-)] Mark

I noticed you had Firefly in your Q. I'm re-watching it again myself. I just finished with disk 2 "Jaynestown". What an excellent series! So so sad to see it go. Good to see people still enjoying it though.
