Just Ranting

Has it ever happened to you where you've set your queue just right? My days off are Wednesdays and Thursdays. I return movies on Saturday or Sunday and by Monday or Tuesday, Netflix sends me my set of 3 new movies from my queue. It's a great system, I've got it all down pat until... SWMBO.

She Who Must Be Obeyed, every now and then, goes in to the queue and rearranges things. She adds movies that she would like to see someday BUT she adds them to the top of the queue.

"So why did you add it to the top of the Queue?" I asked.
"I didn't", she says.
"Well, if you didn't do it... and I didn't do it, then I guess those bastards next door hacked into our queue again."
"Yup.. must be", she mews softly... "I love you."
"Yeah... I love you too (grumble grumble)."

So now on my days off where I can stay up till midnight, I have these three to choose from:
The Feast of Love
Becoming Jane
Bull Durham

Well at least I like Bull Durham but it really wasn't what I was looking forward to seeing. Oh well... SWMBO wins this round. Lucky for her tomorrow is Valentines Day. I guess I won't bitch about this much... at least not till next week when she places Atonement or something like it to the top of the queue again.

Or alternatively, give her a profile with no slots and have her create a so-called Top 10 list which will be her "virtual queue".

Comment by Cat G on February 14, 2008 at 2:08am: If wowwee's suggestion isn't an alternative though, I'd follow Chaw's suggestion. At least SWMBO won't be messing around in your layout! Being extremely anal myself, I know it would throw me outta orbit if my hubby rearranged the queue!!!

Comment by Alan-Not So Nice Not So Helpful on February 13, 2008 at 8:13pm: Yeah we tried that but she rarely watches movies and giving her a movie allotment would just be a waste on a weekly basis. She adds movies to the queue for when she decides to watch it "someday". We've kept some titles for over a week just because she didn't feel like watching it yet and in the meantime, it's killing me that we have a movie I don't want to watch taking up a spot for something I could watch.

Oh well... it's just a minor rant but does come up now and then. :-)

Comment by Aces on February 13, 2008 at 4:43pm: Make SWMBO her own profile (add queue) and assign her 1 (or 2 if you are really nice) movie slots. That way you don't jostle over that top queue spot and you both get what you want.
