I watched Babe and The Lion in Winter last night.

Babe was cute and worth watching, but was pretty much what I expected. I've never seen a more evil version of James Cromwell.

The Lion in Winter was really good, the dialog is just fantastic, so many great lines in this one. Stars Peter O'Toole and Katherine Hepburn and also has a young Anthony Hopkins and Timothy Dalton.

Up next is Almost Famous, Henry V, and Wings of Desire.
The Lion in Winter was an awesome movie. Have you seen the remake with Patrick Stewart & Glenn Close. I loved both, but honestly don't think I could pick one over the other.
I haven't seen the remake yet, but I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks.
Sweet, it is my good friend Mark. Just joined Netflix community. I have not watched any movies today but do plan on watching some. Speaking of watching a movie, what about that great IW list they now set up. It is so great! I have 109 movies on there already. Now I don't have to worry about always returning the movies there is so much IW options, like those about nature and the environment.
I agree, I just finished up Life in the Freezer recently. I also recommend The Blue Planet, but sadly just one of the four discs are available on Watch Instantly at the moment, Tidal Seas / Coasts. (The Deep is the best one.)
Torn Curtain * * * a rather interesting pairing between Newman/Andrews considering her goody two shoes propensity for most screenings.

Lean on Me * * * Morgan Freeman was very good. I would think back in the day this was a very inspirational and statement film but some twenty years later, Hollywood has played this theme out which dampened any surprises. I still found it entertaining and was a nice afternoon IW.

Coming Tomorrow:
The Lovers of the Arctic Circle
Open Range
Film Noir Collection: Detour
"Detour" rules. The most vicious femme fatale in the history of film noir. Is it the greatest B movie ever made? Maybe....
Detour kicks ass.
Lean on Me is inspirational only if you find fascism to be the same. Cleaning up graffiti and learning school songs doesn't equal smarter kids. That dude had no teaching philosophy beyond discipline and demeaning his teachers.

I am prepping a review of that little con job of a movie and am fully expecting to get hit with an onslaught of Unhelpfuls
Last night I saw American Gangster 4 stars -Excellent and well worth the very very long wait it took to get it. This is a must see film based on the true life of Harlem drug lord Frank Lucas.

Gender Rebel - 3 stars - A documentary I saw on the new release page about 3 people born female who don't consider themselves female or male but something inbetween. Not much info on the subject but it was a short ok doc. I wouldn't recommend it but also wouldn't discourage anyone from seeing it.

Karla on IW - 3 stars - It's based on a true story and I had read a book about this couple so it wasn't new but I liked the way the story was done and it's available to watch instantly so you can't miss.

Still trying to watch Steel City which keeps putting me to sleep since I got it Wednesday but I'm going to try one more time.

Next? I got into the Instant Watch so much this week that I didn't return DVDs so have no new ones but I want to watch Action again on Instant Watch. Hilarious! And about 400 other movies on my Instant queue.

I really wanted to like it and I'm a huge fan of both the stars, but it seemed like Denzel's heart wasn't in his role, and Crowe seemed to struggle with the accent. I didn't dislike it though....
It's so funny how people see things differently. I didn't notice either of these things. To me Denzel became Frank Lucas and I never thought he was acting. You may be right about Crowe with the accent. I turned on sub titles in the begining because I couldn't understand someone (maybe him) but that's not unusual at all for me to watch an English movie with the sub titles on. I like to be sure I don't miss anything.
