Ed Norton as the Support Group Addict

I definitely need to see Fight Club again soon as its been awhile.

But one thing I remember after watching it the first time was being 'inspired' (I guess that's the best term) by Norton's addiction to support groups. I didn't actually attend a flesh and blood version, but instead I hit Usenet and subscribed to groups for Depression, Terminal Cancer, Suicide, etc...

I would spend hours just reading through all this depressing shit people were going through. I stayed a lurker as I thought what I was doing was bad enough without actually interfering in what was most likely a real important outlet for some troubled people.

But I just took it all in and it was strangly cathartic. I just know that when I rewatch FC (hopefully soon), those feeling will come rushing back.

Anyhow, great movie.

I volunteer at a local Divorce Recovery Workshop. It's sad, but I leave there feeling so much better than when I go in. :D

In what way?

I realize that i don't have it as bad as I thought, and I'm not as much of a jerk as my ex would lead you to believe. Perspective. Plus it's nice seeing both sides of a situation. Rarely, is it just one person's fault.

Let me know when you rewatch it, what you experienced. I saw it in the cinema and was absolutely without response. I thought it was amazing. I didn't have the response you did, but felt that the film confirmed what I already thought about the whole attachment to things and people thing. I think a lot of people buy into the system and I'm so repulsed by the system.

I agree! I love the fact that it displayed what many people do; strive for materialistic things to fill a void in their life or to presume a certain status. A movie that is somewhat similar but focused on the "status" is American Psycho, awesome film as well! I almost want to say that American Psycho had much influence to Fight Club. We should make a group for that movie too!

I just joined Fight Club. I know we're not supposed to talk about it but where's the fight?

I just watched the movie twice last weekend.

Did you watch it and then watch it again? Interesting. Fight? I don't know what you're talking about:)

It was on cable. So, I watched it once earlier in the day (east coast) and then I watched it again later (west coast time).

Number 1 rule is not to talk about fight club! Number 2 rule is not to talk about fight club! LOL

I see, Pterosaur. I see. And what was the difference in your experience? Speaking of Pterosaurs ... do you watch Sci-Fi channel? They have been "Rex" crazy just recently. They had a show about WWII pilots encountering pterodactyls, I think, and then one called Aztec Rex, about, yes you know it, Aztecs who encounter a T-Rex. I think the Sci-fi channel is owned by Uwe Boll. ha ha.

HA! I love those types of shows but I haven't seen either. I'm a huge fan of monster movies.

Channel flipping past SciFi almost guarantees craptacular CGI
