The spot for us viewers to vent our frustrations. Strike back at Lucas for his ill-conceived happy-meal mentality. Shame the Trek producers for their Syndication Obsessions. Rail against network execs for their frustrating cancellations of your favorite shows. All done with love in a safe, nurturing, good-humored enviroment.

#1 in my queue, very long wait. I don't expect to get it any time soon.

I was so psyched! When I added it to my queue it said it was available now but when I checked just now, it's on long wait. Boo! But I think I might get it soon. I don't watch and return a lot of disks so I don't get throttled, that I've noticed anyway. Well, it'll be a good test, I guess. We'll see who Netflix likes better. ;)

It is SOOO awesome -you are going to love it. The only weird thing is, wardrobe gave them all matching perms. Just kidding.

There are people that watch Stargate? I thought that show was meant to show the world what bad Sci-Fi is. And it just won't die!
I love Battlestar Galactica but was disappointed when they stole scenes from Crimson Tide, complete with the missiles spinning up into position for a season cliffhanger.
Enterprise was most interesting in the third season, when Archer makes tough decisions, and turns out to be not such a nice guy when the planet's on the line. Wish they wouldn't have thrown them back in time, though, a the end of that season. Using Nazis is a poor excuse for writing. ("They're automatically evil, so we don't even have to establish that part....")
There was so much character development left out of the Star Wars prequels that the movies just didn't have much weight. Adding back in the scenes where Anakin meets Padme's family, and the Senators plotting to overthrow the republic would have helped a bit.
As for terrible sci-fi, the worst I've seen in the past few years was the Chronicles of Riddick. Big stinker.

MAUBS, I bet that you haven't seen much of Stargate -like maybe the pilot and some of the 1st three seasons? I am I right? I only started watching it (on DVD) out of sheer SCI-FI desperation... and I was amazed by how freakin' good it got.
My boyfriend used to make fun of me for watching it. Eventually though, he gave it a chance and changed his tune completely.
For sure there are some holes, such as, why the heck does everybody speak English?! But what I love about the production/writing team is that they own up to this stuff make fun of themselves. But I think a lot of the humor will be missed unless you are familiar with the story arcs and character development.

Ha! It was on "long wait" but I still got it. Or will get it. It shipped today. Netflix thinks I'm special! :D

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I did like the new Star Wars trilogy better than the old one. I know Jar Jar was annoying but so were the Ewoks. And in the new trilogy you got to see more of the Star Wars universe including Corisant. You also got to see experienced Jedi in action, and not that novice Luke Skywalker. And you can't deny that the new trilogy had bigger and better lightsaber fights.

This might be a good entry for the "Blasphemy" thread that was started long after this post.
To say that any other movie than Empire is the pinnacle of the Star Wars saga might result in a public stoning at any sci-fi convention (not that I've been to any).
I would agree that the fight choreography is much better in the new trilogy, especially in Phantom Menace with Darth Maul (so much potential in this underdeveloped character!). Coruscant is pretty cool, until you start thinking about a whole planet that's paved over as one big city, like Planet New York, without any Central Park. That's pretty depressing.
Just wish they'd hired a good director for the prequels. Could have done wonders for the storytelling and character development aspects.

Actually I did post this in the Blasphemy tread. I will agree the Star Wars prequils could have been made a lot better. But regardless of that I still love the way the prequils tell the story of Jedi versus Sith.
