I'm just wondering if I'm going nuts or something... I happen to be a HUGE fan of this guy. I love ALL his stuff. Given- some movies are better than others (i.e Sixth Sense/ Unbreakable) but I just don't get why people trash on him so much... he's so good.
Check out this segment from Ebert & Roeper where Roeper praises the acting performances in THE HAPPENING. Say what you will about the other aspects of the film, but the acting was absolutely terrible here. Roeper loses a lot of credibility on that comment. With this movie, MNS discredits not only himself, but also one of the most prominent and visible film critics on the scene. Amazing!
Ya'll need to leave my man Mark alone! ;) I thought he did well in this movie. The "geez you're crazy" look he gave the old lady towards the end was priceless totally cracked me up. And the whole "superfluous cough syrup" conversation was subtle and funny. He just had to deliver a lot of lame dialogue ... can't really help that, right? Blame your guy M.Night for that. :)
Just finished watching Signs on Blu-Ray.Have seen it many times before on standard, this time with audio and video detail. I like the film for its depth. It moves me still.
I usually like m.night shyamalan but after seeing The Happening last week end I would like to ask him the same thing Dr. Phil sometimes asks his guests,What Were You Thinkin'?!! It was poorly written and had a stupid plot about the plants getting mad at us. I guess this was supposed to be his thoughts on global warming?? The violence was horrific and did not make much sense. It was if he was now trying to be the new Stephen King but he is no where near in the same class with King who seems to be the master of Horror. His stories have plots that make sense.
I guess this was supposed to be his thoughts on global warming?
I thought the same thing when I left the theater i.e. "M. Night Shamalamadingdong's jumping on the green bandwagon" but I've been reading some other blogs and they alluded to the fact that M. Night is a devout Christian and the movie is actually promoting pro-intelligent design themes (versus Darwin's evolution theory). Basically, substitute "unexplained acts of nature" with "an intelligent and intervening force in the universe" (i.e God). I really didn't get that from the movie, though. But it's an interesting thing to ponder. Is M. Night trying to sneak his Jesus agenda into our subconscious?
I don't get a feel of the Jesus agenda being sneaked through. The "green bandwagon" is more like it. At least he wasn't preachy about it. In my circle of friends, I'm the only still willing to watch Shyamalan films on the big screen. Beating the audience's head with forced message would change that for me.
Hi, I'm knew in this forum and I have being going up and down in all the web looking for the community chat that we can see in the documentary of M. Shyamalan, I just want to know if that chat room and web page exists... and I don't know what you think about that...
Wasn't that whole documentary supposed to be a hoax? I don't know if there is a chat going on about it, but you can certainly start one.
BTW - did you all know that M. is doing a live action version of Avatar - The Last Airbender? Hope he can turn the tide with a project that didn't originate from his own source material.
Thanks for the comment, but I really don't know if that documentary was a hoax... I will like to know more and go a little far away with this character of Manoj...
