Anyone else get cheesed about this or is it just me? People who post reviews about movies that haven't been released yet. I understand that most films are pre-screened but there are quite often reviews that say things like "I haven't seen this film yet, but the trailer looks great." or my favorite " I read the book and they'd better not screw this one up."
An example - there's a review up for Speed Racer that goes like this "I saw the trailer for this movie in the theatre when I went with some friends and saw Alvin and the Chipmunks. It looked really good. Can't wait for it to come out!"
I know there's an option to flag the review as "not a review" but seems to never work. I assume that it takes more than one person flagging to remove it, but anyone know just how many it takes to remove it?
Some others with non-reviews:
The Dark Knight
Horton Hears a Who
Hellboy 2 ( Netflix doesn't have box art yet and there's already bogus reviews)
Iron Man
Leatherhead (no box art yet, 2 reviews)
etc.
etc.
Last night I reported Herr Klauz's plagiarized review of The Outsider and it was gone this morning. Tonight, I reported his Aguirre review as plagiarized from IMDB. The real Author: Freddy Levit from Melbourne, Australia. Aguirre Review
It seems odd that NF removed one so fast. Overnight. Or did Herr Klauz take it down? Does he read this thread?
I think this guy is doing this to see how far NF will let him go. When he isn't doing the cut n paste from IMDB it looks like he has a few form reviews he pastes on movies that he targets. The same thing is posted over and over for movies which have a similar theme, Christianity for example. But when he finds a movie he really likes (and he has excellent taste - i.e. Aguirre and The Outsider) he finds a good review and steals it. He has over 1000 reviews and has posted a couple of hundred in the last 2 weeks. I looked through a lot of them and saw only a handful of what may be real reviews he authored.
If he's doing this to get a better NF reviewer rating he probably is one of the members here. The only published list of top reviewers I know about is on this community. I wonder if he is reading this now.
Will Aguirre be removed? Will NF do anything about the hundreds of redundant non reviews? Will Herr Klauz continue to copy and paste reviews and rant on Christianity? Will we get more stories of he and his girlfriend's experiments with kama sutra positions? Tune in next time and find out.
You read on here that I reported the plaigerized review of The Outsiders and took it down. Last night you saw I reported the review of Aguirre and you edited the review to confuse NF. If they investigate it the review will be completely different. You removed Author: zetes from Saint Paul, MN but now have Author: Genevieve Kennedy (gen69@hotmail.com) from Melbourne, Australia's review instead.
I have a snap of your review and Kennedy's from 1999. It's time for you to remove it now. Or will you switch it with another?
Herr Klauz's stolen review on Netflix (this is my favorite of your ids by the way)
Kennedy's review on IMDB
Or maybe Herr Klauz doesn't steal reviews at all. Maybe he can explain this.
Sounds like a helpful review to me. You and I may not agree with it and believe it's a racially motivated way of looking at a movie but I'm sure there are some out there that will find this type of review helpful. I'd vote it not helpful but I'd still consider it a review.
Although your last sentence contradicts the first I think I understand what you are saying, and I agree. I think that, at best, it is in poor taste but, as you say Alanin, it is a review.

Damn, next thing you know they will be trying to run for President.
DAY 3 and the story continues - Today Herr Klauz has put this up in place of the last 2 plagiarized reviews he copied from IMDB for Aguirre: The Wrath of God:
Will he really "get around to writing a review" for this or is "(This spot reserved)" while he's looking on the internet for another to copy and paste?
At lease we now see a real review from this guy. However, it still isn't a review. Anyone reading this - if you object to plagerism and non-reviews here's a guy whose "reviews" give you plenty to mark. You will even find some you may find offensive to mark. He has something for everyone.
This phoney is, as of 8/3, the 76th most influencial reviewer according to Netflix. Doesn't that just warm you hearts?
Film Grrrl agrees. As NF has people whose function in life is to monitor this site, let's hope s/he has the pull to let the Powers That Be know that the reviewer ranking formula is still leaking, and those holes need to be plugged. Soon.
And another thing, Film Grrrl esp. hates those so-called reviews that state the reviewer is PO'd because the film was not in English and had subtitles. Film Grrrl says: If you cannot read, you should not be writing "reviews".
