I'd consider myself more of a movie nerd. I like many movies that a cinephile would (foreign films, documentaries, silents and classics), but I also like more than a fair share of movies that any self-respecting cinephile would never admit to even having seen, let alone liking.

but the cinephile loves everything, which is probably why i dont' really believe in the concept of guilty pleasures. you like what you like, and you watch what you want.
Interesting, then, that the cinephile's appetite is both that of a connoisseur and an insatiable omnivore. The cinephile craves, and appreciates, white truffles and meatloaf with ketchup (though not necessarily on the same plate). However, the cinephile abhors catsup for its pretentious inauthenticity.
Er... sure, that's me. Ketchup over catsup anyday. I grew up in Pittsburgh, after all, from whence Heinz extends its global hegemony.
But seriously folks, I'm definitely an omnivore.
But I don't stake much claim on deep cinema knowledge. A dilettante cinephile.
Jeebus! With all this ketchup talk, you'd think that Kerry was running for head honcho again...
No, this time the dude running who is leeching off his rich wife (read: who I'm insanely jealous of....Mrs Pihkal eventually inherits next to squat) is on the Republican side.
Sorry, we were talking about pedophiles vs pedomaniacs....carry on.
