I can't believe nobody has mentioned "Harold and Kumar Goes..". A riveting and touching film about the search for White Castle by two unlikely heroes....

oh yeah that was a good movie. But the sequel didn't really have much to do with White Castle though if I recall correctly.

Still have to see the sequel and I think NF is finally shipping me a copy. I liked the original for its stoner liked nature. I have a soft spot for stoner movies, and the sequel didn't strike me as stoner enough.

"Smiley Face" is food and stoner related. Farris really carries that one. Rather adorable IMO.

I liked Guantanamo Bay a lot better than the first too! I laughed more during it than White Castle. I hope they make another one...I love Neil Patrick Harris's character in them.

NPH was what kept me going in White Castle, I am glad to hear that Guantanamo is better, it is in my queue but way down there LOL

I like stoner movies too, and was really looking forward to Smiley Face (loved the cupcake bit!). The movie lost me after about 40 minutes, though. Faris did carry it, it was all about her really, but the character grated my nerves after a while and I just got tired of the gag.

I could see why the exaggerated character and the movie's singular focus could be grating. For me exaggeration is part of the reason why stoner movies work. The more exaggerated the better. Leela, can you recall a stoner movie where the lead is female? I can't really think of any.

The scenes of Faris's character trying to drive a car and boarding a bus (They were so absurd! :-) convinced me she can do better material beyond "Scary Movie(s)".

I don't know of any other female-centered stoner movie, either! Interesting point.

I agree about Faris' acting chops deserving better roles. Looks like she's got a few things in the works, so hopefully she'll be able to prove that.

Have you seen Mama's Boy? Haven't heard much good there, but the featured IMDb review says that in it Faris "adds some dimension to her standard stoner chick."

The trailer is rather funny, and I'll check it out despite my senses telling me that almost all the humorous bits are all on the trailer. Plus it has Jon Heder! I really liked him on "Napoleon Dynamite" and School for Scoundrels", but he's done an awful lot of DOA stinkers.

How about Waitress?

Many, many delicious looking pies in that film.

I haven't seen Waitress yet, but I have seen The Spitfire Grill, it is good if you like chick flicks...

lol if we're going down that path, we should include "Fried Green Tomatoes" too. I haven't seen Waitress either, but I remember seeing a trailer for it a while back. Might have to check it out sometime.
