Thanks for wasting my m------f----ing time!
I finally broke down and joined "Movie Hunks" to put in my two cents.
Now, mind you, I am not normally the "movie hunks" type. It's not so much a matter of sexual orientation; I find calling a man a "hunk" just as demeaning as calling a woman a "piece." You can do what you want, it's just not my style.
I spent at least a half-hour crafting a reply to Katieee, explaining first of all how rare the conflict involving Moviegirl was in this site's 6-month history, and secondly explaining that most of the people involved clearly do believe in "live and let live," but that in this instance some missteps and miscommunications resulted in some mistaken perceptions of enmity.
When I submitted the reply, I discovered TWO weird as hell things.
ONE - Katieee had deleted her profile, and therefore all her posts, for the second time (the first time, she was "Moviegirl")
TWO - the thread had been closed to posts.
May I respectfully request that people show a tiny bit more concern about how they waste other people's time? Post a warning an hour before you do something like this, OR do it in the slow hours (after midnight, f'rinstance)

I think the most in depth conversations I've ever had on the main board are almost solely about the inability to have in depth conversations on the main board and the reasons for that. :)

Awwwww! Pihk, don't be sad, did you really need to have an in depth conversation with people who might not be capable of doing so in the first place? Really think about it. It's not necessary, imo. There will always be someone out there who appreciates your sarcasm! I know I do.

Responding to Pihk's post up there somewhere which the freaking stupid thread hierarchy that Ning provides will show to be a few pages away and it's really long so I'm not gonna cut and paste it.
I don't think it's the movie discussions that get us off course (even the ones where people disagree energetically). I think it's when people start bringing their personal issues into it that we get derailed.
So instead of the boring movie discussion that you gave as an example (which I agree would make me want to kill kittens as well), we get this:
Poster A: I think the world would suck if people who don't believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster and his noodly appendages weren't around.
Poster B: You're so ignorant, FSM followers are the ones that cause all suckage in the world.
Poster C: Hey, leave poster A alone. Can't you be nice?
Poster D: No, you leave poster B alone. We can disagree if we want to.
Poster A: You guys all suck, I'm leaving.
Poster B: Gee, Posters A & C don't have a sense of humor. I'm so funny and cool, can't they see it's just for fun?
Posters D, E, F, and G: Yeah I'm with Poster B.
Poster H, I, J, and K: Ya'll are meanies, I'm with Poster C.
All other posters: Can ya'll shut the fuck up about who did what to whom and talk about movies again?
