I was looking to replace a CD that no longer worked. It was a Ozzy Ozbourne CD. I went into Planet Music and went to the rock section and low and behold. No Ozzy No Megadeth or Metallica. I went to the sale associate and he told me that Metal was subbed from rock and roll some time ago. So just to let you know, that it has happened
Keep the rock alive
Lacuna Coil is a pretty good metal band,Metallica, there early stuff and i wonder what there new CD in gonna be like. I heard a new song by them on the radio the other day and it didn't sound too bad,at least it didn't sound like there last CD, St. Anger the drums drove me fuckin nuts. Hell of a live act tho i'll give them that. Korn i really like there stuff,it's different and it rocks, another great live band. Venom is pretty hardcore. Hatebreed almost forgot about them guys. Check out Headbangers Ball on MTV2 on Saturday nights, i think around 10 pm. eastern it comes on. I haven't watched it in awhile maybe it's not on any more. When i did watch it i was very impressed, there was a lot of really good metal bein played on there and it wasn't all just screamin and crazyness.
This is a good listing of who is who or more so who is what in the metal world. I like more of what you call classic and thrash. The other stuff I just can't get into. I think its the grainulated grovel voice screaming into the mic the whole time. I would rather listen to Ozzy or Dio type singers any day
I like a little Metallica and I love Static X, but thats about the extent of it.
I had a roomie a few years ago though...he loved death metal and goth metal. I found some of it to be really good. Death and Goth metal though have to be done just right for it not to be just another "clone" of a heavy metal garage band.
I think my friends fav band was Dying Fetus, but Cradle of Filth was his absolute fav.
I must say though Cradle of Filth is one of the best out there.
I dunno much about this "Goth metal" (though I've heard the term thrown around before), but what do you mean by death metal needs to be done just right to not be another clone of a haevy metal garage band? I've heard lots of different and unique sounds come out of the death metal scene.
