With VIP passes, seven gung-ho tourists of a Hollywood movie studio get trapped in an infamous house of horror. They decide that the only way they'll get out is to tell their scariest stories, which showcases tales from directors Joe Dante, Ken Russell, Sean S. Cunningham, John Gaeta, and Monte Hellman. The only actors of mention were Henry Gibson (The Burbs) and John Saxon (Enter the Dragon) and an otherwise not so impressive cast. The stories themselves range from vampire breast implants, witch girlfriends, hungry murderous parasitic twins, and to the horny corpse of a Japanese monk that committed suicide. Each story had sex of course, so it made out sort of like a late night Cinemax fest with a horror spin. At least the soft-porn edge was spared. Thank you. Nothing very thrilling here, but I have to give props for two of the stories, which although their delivery was poor, the overall idea behind them was kind of cool (the vampire boobs and the horny monk corpse). 2.5 stars rounded out to a 3, hell why not.

Despite this film blatantly ripping off NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. and a slew of other horror films, there were some funny parts. So funny because it's that lame - mostly stemming from the "Res", the absurdly stylish dorm which use to be an asylum, the ghost Dr., and the FLATLINERS rip-off swirl into nightmarish home-lives that the students escaped and must revisit. Everything was by the numbers with this one, including the lead character who witnessed the suicide of her father as a child and whom is haunted even before entering the haunted dorm. Isn't that neat. Each student has baggage for the doc to try and "cure" them of. The ending scene was classic and made me realize, if I ever need to kill a ghost (one who can chase me into a field far away from the asylum from which it haunts while wearing barbwire and bondage gear) that I could stab it in the head with a screwdriver laying around such wilderness, and it will go away.

As for the European aspects. It all started with the Navy and being on a ship in the Med. I developed a natural (?) talent for dealing with people of other cultures -- I am not totally sure how I did that??????? Then I took a corporate career which involved international business. Granted on that type of a job, much like the Navy, one is not too independent but can still shape things to one's comfort level and achieve good things. Is this a good riddle too? Not as sexy?
