WALL-E

Shipped on 11/25/08.

In a futuristic world, human beings have destroyed Earth and evacuated the planet, leaving the cleanup to an army of robots they've programmed to do their dirty work. Due to a mishap, the dutiful WALL-E is the only one left. But with the arrival of a female probe named EVE, the monotony of WALL-E's existence is broken -- and he experiences love for the first time. Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo) directs this Pixar tale with a sci-fi twist.

Son of Rambow

Shipped on 11/04/08.

Forbidden to watch TV or go to the movies by his ultrareligious parents, young Will (Bill Milner) gets a hold of a camera, and his mind blossoms in this nostalgic comedy from the team behind The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Set in 1980s Britain, the film tells the tale of the friendship that blossoms between Will and class bully Lee (Will Poulter) when the latter recruits Will to help him make a home movie inspired by Rambo: First Blood.

The Edge of Heaven

Shipped on 10/15/08.

When his father (Tuncel Kurtiz) accidentally kills a prostitute (Nursel Koese), Nejat (Baki Davrak) seeks out the woman's 27-year-old daughter, Ayten (Nurgul Yesilcay), to make amends. Nejat focuses his search in Turkey, but Ayten, part of a closely scrutinized activist group, has already fled to Germany. Lives intersect in unexpected ways in writer-director Fatih Akin's multilayered drama, which won Best Screenplay at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

I am looking over your list of favorite movies. A male friend and I watched Audition together. It made him angry and he started a fight with me and stormed out of my apartment. I have not seen him in months. One of my girlfriends acted the same way when I showed her Freaks. (I still see her though). Movies that cause such a reaction are very powerful. Are there any movies that made you angry like that? I do not mean movies that are so bad they make you mad, but movies that are so strong that they scare you or make you rage or do something out of control.

Suppose the subtitles are crappy? Will you tolerate complaints?

It is perhaps your choice of films that interested me most. That and your enthusiasm for the things you did like.

BTW, I also hate people who complain about having to "read" while watching a foreign film. Idiots.

Yeah, it gets sort of old explaining "throttling" to every new user, especially after other people have tried. I just figure hate is as good a reason as any to keep new releases from people. It's simple and requires no further explanation.

I have to admit, Sid is great! He's fun and funny and he's a happy sort of character, he seems to love his work and fans! He really is a terrific guy and thank you for your comment!

I queued "The Architecture of Doom" ... I'm also interested in a couple others, but I gotta pace myself! I've already split into 2 queues (like all of us, I need so much more time to see 'em all ..). Another one you reviewed that I'll probably add later is the one about Charles Manson ...
