This was a tightly twisted tale of a dream becoming a nightmare. This movie has so many weird twists that you cant quite keep up with what is going on. After a while, the drama just turns to foolishness, and eventually catches back up to itself. The set up is a literary agent gets his dream home only to find out that something wrong is going on, not exactly knowing what it is, he tries to figure it out on his own. I enjoyed watching the drama unfold bit by bit, but it was taken over the path of enjoyment, to the path of hurry up and finish. Therefore, it gets a 3 instead of a 4 star rating.

I do not remember why I rented this movie, but Im glad I did. This movie just wrapped me up in the drama and had me yearning for all the soldiers that this has happened to. It concerns a very bad program that the government has implemented and is now using to the extremes.
The movie starts out with the actors fighting in the war. I started to turn it off because I did not want to watch a war movie. I watched anyway. The soldiers go home on leave as well as two of them are finished with their service tour, looking forward to getting out of the service. Ryan Phillippe stars as Sgt. King, as he starts turning in his equipment, uniforms etc. he learns that he is to report for duty. Confused by this news, Sgt. King goes to his superiors and learns that he has been stop-lossed. Stop-loss is a program in the military where they can ultimately force you back into service, even after your time is up. You have no choice in the matter other than going AWOL.
In my opinion the government needs to eliminate this program from every military branch. Yes, our service men and women choose to fight for our country and to serve their time, but when that time is up they should be given a choice on whether they want to go back into service, not forced into it. Yes, this is wartime, yes, this is a time when we need soldiers, yes, they are needed to help to try and control the situation that the government has imposed upon us. Let me ask a question, how many have died that have been stop-lossed, how many of the deceased did not want to go back, and were forced to do so? TOO MANY! I apologize if I have preached in this review, but this movie was enlightening to me, and I felt the need to express my opinion to describe how this movie affected me. A must watch to all who know or even have family/friends as members of the military.

A total suprise, not what I was expecting at all. It was a little bit confusing to begin with, not sure what was going on. As the movie progressed it just wrapped you into the drama of what would you do if you found out your future. Pearce brings total belief to his characters progression throughout this film.

This was a great movie, which shows how deep love between two people can overcome even death. Jessica has lost her husband, but her daughter in law refuses to let her carry out his last wishes. She forces Jessica to do the unthinkable, blackmailing her with her own house for trade of her fathers ashes. All of the ladies in this movie portray their characters in a way that make you fall in love with each of them. This movie was like Steel Magnolias meeting and mixing with Thelma & Louise. Fantastic friendships, wonderful storyline, as well as a road trip worth the watch.

A movie with a great idea, that fails miserably in making it through to the screen. Frank goes through with his boyfriends experiment to entrap and get a great story out of trashing another psychologist who claims to fix being gay. Frank lies to get into the office and ends up trying to figure out if he can be fixed. As if being gay is something one can fix. I may be partially cynical in this review, but in order for one to be happy with oneself you need to love yourself first and foremost and not to believe that there is something wrong in whom you choose to love, or even in the lifestyle you are born to be a part of.
The only thing that this movie did have to its credit was that it did try to honestly portray both sides of the issues. It is slow in the deliverance, and a bit dull to watch.

I'm planning to stick around -it's just that I thought it would be a good idea to include those of you, who are most active, in the creative process (share the power). One of the things that I am working on right now a Sci-Fi links 'portal' to other related groups on this site. I would be happy to hear your thoughts on this -or any other idea you might have.
Would you like to be promoted to one of the administrators?
This morning Netflix recommended Shelter confirming my suspicions that NF thinks I'm a gay man. Heh! :D
I've seen ya at the Sci-Fi Forum... as you probably know, I setup the 'Wormhole' a bit ago, and have been absent for a while. I really appreciate how you all have contributed and I'm happy to see so many new members! I feel guilty that no of them recieved an official welcome to the group -and I was thinking that it would be a good idea to give a handful of you members (who are most active) administrative powers. I think that would help the group run more smoothly overall. Do you have any interest?
Thanks again for your contributions to the group. You really are a great person! Feel free to do whatever you want there. You clearly are innovative, smart, and creative.
Love the new page. Yes, I was going to make another header for you based on the colors you had chosen (yes, I get bored and obsessive) but you changed!
Here is a header for you with some simple text
