A true tale of the heart and learning to follow where it takes you. Great Art and animation and a truly wonderful story about finding where you want to go and who you want to go with. A young girl spends her time reading fairy tales and finds every book that she checked out has been checked out before her by the same boy. well she finally meets him and by his strong sense of direction in what he wants to do inspires her to find her's and try for her dreams this really is a true masterpiece of storytelling and suitable for all ages. Well that is just my opinion thank you for your time and I hoped this helped

This is the anime film that all other anime are compared to. Hand drawn the very best of the old school of animation and anime story telling. There are more visually stunning films now with CGI and 3D modeling and shading but none that carry the same weight as this. Still the masterpiece of old school animation I have recently viewed the remastered version and it still held me in awe. Although this was not my first Anime I started with the original Astro Boy then Speed Racer .This was the one that would make me a lifelong fan of Anime. A story about trying to find sense in a world gone mad. With rampant corruption anarchists and terrorists everywhere and the consequences of reaching beyond us to soon. Still it is about learning about what we are and where we could be. Well that's my opinion thank you for your time and I hoped this helped

Great art work and animation this has a very dark feel well more of a winter feel. But the blending of 3D CGI and standard 2D animation is really very well done. This is about a journey to find yourself or your truth in a world that has been all but destroyed and trying to return from destruction. It is of course a Sci-Fi adventure that was written with a good deal of intelligence which I found quite enjoyable and I would recommend this to any fan of well written and well drawn thought provoking Sci-Fi Anime.Thank you for your time and I hoped this helped

Pretty good art and pretty good animation. This is mainly a Mecha driven story. It is about how the government are using and abusing its citizens after a major catastrophe and keeping order with their super weapons. the story does tend to add a lot of double-crosses and triple crosses and puts in a lot of odd characters but it does make a little girl the focus and not in a nice way to help with their super weapons. still not too bad of an anime but I would only recommend this for people that like Mecha driven anime thank you for your time and I hoped this helped

This version is the collectors edition of this movie it is exactly the same as the 1982 cut but slightly punched up visuals and sound. This I first saw in maybe the same year it came out. Cable was just starting out were I was living in a suburb of Chicago (I now live in southern California) we had two pay TV stations Spectrum and On TV both are long gone. They must have needed different types of films to appeal to the broadest base which is how I got lucky enough to see this back then. Back to the film this doesn't have the greatest animation but it was ok at the time I saw this I thought this was great still do. This was the first time I had seen animation with a real plot not just a cartoon but much better it went across racial lines it had a moral point and it dealt with the end of our planet this opened the door this film set the tone then 5 years later the door was kicked off it's hinges by Akira. But this brought serious Animation to America well at least to me. By today's standards this is so so a drifting plot line good but not great animation characters that come in and out but still this caught my attention it's worth a watch to see how far anime and animation has come and one of its Turing points for the genre. This is the repackaged Collectors edition but the same as the other Harmagedon on this site for the most part Thank you for your time and I hoped this helped
