What did you think of Girl with a Pearl Earring?
Critics complained it was too slow paced. But how do you make a film about Vermeer (who is the quietest painter)
in 17th century Delft with a fast pace? I thought it was close to flawless. I also loved Pollock.

I just realized it is Joan Benett on your site. Looks great! It is always nice to know there is someone out there who really knows his Film Noir. Last year I really started getting into it although many of the movies I have always enjoyed but just didn't know about the history behind them.

Hey Prof, thinking of comic book stuff with the Bucky comment, have you checked out Comic Collector Live yet? It's the bees knees for keeping your collection in one place and organized.

I just read your review of Splendor in the Grass. It is one of the movies I own because I really love Natalie Wood's performance. Every tine I see the part where she is explaining the poem and gets so choked up she has to run out of the room it is heart breaking. Then at the end she has resolved to put this very passionate love she had with Bud into the past and go on with her life. A very good example of tragic romance.

I watched This Gun for Hire the other day. After reading your high praise, I thought I should check it out. I thought it was great. Alan Ladd amazes me in that he looks so unassuming, yet he turns in a great performance here as a killer and in Shane as a tough guy. Veronica Lake wasn't quite as charming here as in Sullivan's Travels, but she is till lovely. If you have any more suggestions, feel free to let me know.

Well Professor, I finally watched your depicted avatar:
This Gun For Hire. * * * * My first date with Veronica Lake. Pretty good all around noir story with a handsome lug and a real sweet doll.
